Psychology Sample Lecture and Admission Seminar with University of Bath
On 5th March, Dr. Joiner from Bath gave us a funny and knowledgeable talk on psychological concepts and visual llusions, where the little experiments helped all of us to understand how our brains work in a simple and clear way! Good responses were received and the atmosphere was great too. At the academic seminar, Ms Irwin also introduced us the beauty of Bath University. She shared the enjoyable life of studying in Bath as well as the UCAS requirements and admission tips. Students and parents gained a better understanding for the school’s culture and academic background.


Singtao IB Seminar
On 5th March, Joyce was the speaker for the seminar. She gave an introduction on IB curriculum and had suggestion on what types of student are suitable for the IB curriculum. As an IB examiner, she also shared her points of view on how IB students can boost their grades.


Physics Forum on Gravitational Waves with UCL
On 2nd April, Prof Wu from UCL gave us a knowledgeable sample lecture about the gravitational waves and Black Hole merging. Students who attended had a better understanding for how a lecture looks like in the university as well as the university teaching style. Prof Wu also prepared us some little homework to do after the talk in order to deepen the concepts we had just learnt in the lecture. A lot of students are interested in the topic and were eager to have a small discussion with Prof Wu after the talk! Then, he shared with us the diversified career paths of studying Physics, including academic, business and even the government sector. We all gained not only Physics concepts and knowledge but also how interesting a lecture can be in the university!


Aviva IB Seminar
On 21st  May, Joyce was invited to be a speaker for the seminar, “Prepare Now for New Direction of Education”. The seminar introduced 3 types of IB curriculum, IBDP, IBMYP and IBPYP, and also suggested how students can select appropriate curriculum for them.


On 17th Jun 2016, Agnes and Tim gave us a talk about different paths to overseas studies. They also shared their success stories on previous education and working experience.


Ohpama Talk
On 19th Jun 2016, Joyce was invited to the talk and shared her experience about studying IB. The talk also introduced IB curriculum and gave opinions on what students need to prepare before studying IB. 


On 9th July, Joyce gave us a talk on her educational knowledge and experience about studying IB. The talk helped parents and students to understand what they need to prepare before studying IB.


Mentorship Closing Event
The CANA Vision Mentorship Program 2015/16 held a closing event on 9th Jul 2016. During the program, Students were provided the opportunity to meet local professionals from different fields. The program will continue in the next academic year.


Medicine Admission Seminar with Cardiff University
On 17th Jul 2016, we had the pleasure of hosting a second Medicine Admission Seminar with Ms Jones from Cardiff University. She has given helpful insights on the different medicine courses in the UK, together with a clear walkthrough of the admission process, including the academic requirements, personal statements, traditional and MMI interviews, as well as job shadowing experience. She also shared how Cardiff University revamped their medicine curriculum to create a theory-practice integrated syllabus to equip students to be future doctors. This also helps the university to become one of the top three medicine schools in the UK in recent years.


New Branch Opening
31st Jul 2016 was the opening day of our new branch at Shek Mun. It was great to see many of our beloved friends and families coming to celebrate the new opening on that day.


Personal Statement Workshop with Durham University
On 3rd Sept 2016, we hosted a Personal Statement Workshop with Dr Crowder from Durham University. As an admission selector, Dr Crowder gave helpful and insightful sharing on how students can write a compelling UCAS personal statement. He also compared the different styles of essays applying to US universities and UK universities.


EDUplus Talk
On 8th Oct 2016, Agnes was invited to be a speaker for the talk and shared her experience about overseas studiesShe has given helpful insights about the strategy for choosing subject in UCAS and shared skills on how students can write a compelling personal statement. 


Cardiff Medicine Admission Seminar

This Sunday, we are honoured to have hosted another event in the CANA Elite University Talks series! It was Cardiff Medicine Admission Seminar, delivered by Ms Sian Keepin from Cardiff University. She shared insights on the UK medicine courses, academic and job shadowing requirements, personal statement and interview tips as well as how different universities use entry tests differently.

Ms Keepin has had a very busy trip in HK and she flew back to the UK on the same night of the event. We hope she has had a great stay in HK!
